Cold Weather Guidelines

These tips are only intended to attempt to assist you in getting your household back into water. There are absolutely no guarantees that your equipment will not freeze up under the extreme weather conditions that we are experiencing.

You can also fill a tub or sink with water brought in to keep as a reserve for rinsing and flushing.

All systems:

Always cover your equipment as much as possible, especially around the pressure gauge area which is the most vulnerable place. Make sure all pipes that are outside are wrapped with foam heat wrap and add additional heavy blankets if available.

Permanent well system Without storage tank:  Let the furthest outside faucet from the well run in a steady pencil thin flow so that the well equipment will continue to flow water through the lines. Also let a steady drip take place inside the house at one faucet.

Permanent well system with storage tank and well house:  Install a lightbulb and space heater in well house to keep equipment warm.

Permanent well system with storage tank and no well house:   Construct a    makeshift tent if necessary with a heat lamp in it, if you do not have a well house. If you have a storage tank with a booster pump, cover it loosely with a tub and then wrap blankets over the it, so the blanket is not wrapped too tightly around the booster pump.

My Well Pump is not working or running what should I do?

Take a paper nail file and gently clean off the contact points if obstruction exists.

Put cover back on and turn on power.
  • If problem not solved - Check overloads on control box, red button(s), underneath front of the unit. Don't Remove cover on control box.
